The District Coordinating Committee Chairman, Mr. Chandana Abeyrathna, of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government; Minister of Environment Organization, Hon. Anton Sarath Jayakody; Hon. Aravinda Senarath of the Ministry of Irrigation; and Co-Chairman of the District Coordinating Committee, Mr. Gayan Janaka, together with government and opposition political authorities, participated in this event. The Chief Secretary of the North Western Province, Mr. Indika Ilangkoon, along with senior officials, and the District Secretary, Mr. Y. I. M. Silva, together with heads of state institutions in the district, also took part in this special disaster-management meeting. All disaster-related situations that arose in the district due to the sudden minor cyclone were discussed. In addition, the restoration of electricity, water supply, telecommunication services, roads, and other infrastructure—which have already been rapidly restored—as well as the progress of ongoing projects currently being brought back to normalcy, were reviewed. Special attention was also given to the relief provided by the government to the affected people and the implementation and progress of the related measures.
